On each individual web page you will find the dog's health clearances listed underneath their name. We list ALL the results from tests performed regardless of the out-come. I believe honesty and openness is the best policy especially when a person is considering breeding their dogs. If you have questions about the different health clearances or the results listed underneath the dogs please feel free to contact me.

  About Our Breeding Program

Although Field Spaniels are a wonderful breed they are not for everyone. Please research the breed prior to deciding to add a field spaniel to your family. Talk to a multiple breeders, ask questions and find a breeder that you are comfortable with. Gather information so that you can make an informed choice of where to get your new family addition. Remember getting a Field Spaniel puppy will be a 10-15 year commitment. Take the time to find the right breeder and Field Spaniel.

Killara Field Spaniels strives to maintain Field Spaniels that not only adhere to the breed standard, but also demonstrate trainability, mental soundness and good health. Breeding stock will be chosen on these attributes as our goal is to maintain these fine qualities that make this breed so unique and wonderful.

All puppies are raised in the home under close supervision with love and care. Between 3-16 days puppies are exposed to early neurological stimulation program. This program includes thermal and tactile stimulation. Studies have found by using an early neurological stimulation program that the pups mature at faster rates, perform better in problem solving tests, are more disease resistant and are better at handling stressful situations.

Socialization continues with the puppies being exposed to new places and situations to assure they grow into well adjusted pets. People will be invited into the home to play with the pups as to socialize them further. At 8-10 weeks the puppies will undergo a Puppy Aptitude Test to determine proper placement of puppies. The puppies also undergo an eye check by a board certified Ophthalmic Veterinarian.

All puppies are sold on a contract. Pet puppies are sold on spay/neuter contract and on limited registration. The puppies’ temperament, structure and trainability are all taken into consideration when placing puppies. The new owners will receive a binder that includes but not limited to: a copy of the eye check, records of veterinary care, AKC papers, instructions on grooming and daily care, & other additional information. We also strive to maintain contact with owners to offer support and advice during the life time of your Field.
